TRINIDAD

CHAGUARAMAS:  Our sail from Grenada to Chaguaramas took about 10 hours.  At one point, we sailed between huge oil rigs that were all lit up.  There was a boat in distress and we listened to their conversations on VHF 16 in case we could help out.  There are accounts of pirates in the area so we took precaution as to sail around the rum line.

We didn't visit Trinidad at all.  We'll keep that for the fall.  Instead, we did boat projects and put Alpenglow on the hard for the summer.

Information for Cruisers:
1. Do not go to immigration/customs if you are not properly dressed, they will refuse you. 
2. Coral Cay Marina:  Finger peers.  Laundry: 2 washers, 1 dryer, no table to fold clothes on.  Pool looked dirty and it's really small, never used it.  Washrooms/showers are ok, had hot water :).  We didn't use any of their services.  Looked ok, but it's a boatyard.
3. PEAKS Marine & boatyard:  This is where we left our boat.  Very professional and helpful.  Has a restaurant/bar on site and hotel rooms.  There are several bathrooms and showers.  They built 2 new, high end shower/bathrooms but they are under the restaurant (far from most boats on the hard).  They will be renovating the current restrooms I've been told.  Laundry: self serve, front loaders, nice table for folding.  If you want to take a slip, it's med mooring and extremely rolly from what I've seen.  No pool. There's a fast internet lounge that's air conditioned and has several terminals for free !  Corner store is very limited.  Lots and lots of services all along each marina.
4. CREW'S INN:  This is next to immigration/customs which is very convenient.  Higher end marina.  Must reserve way in advance.  Has a decent grocery store on site & restaurant.
5. Power Boats:  Has a cheap roti shack.  Beside Power boats is a restaurant called Wheel House where cruisers meet up for happy hour, especially on Saturday nights.  Lunches are $45TT (8US).
